One-on-One Adaptive Swim Lessons at the RA Centre provide individualized swimming instruction for children and youth ages 3–17. Each swimmer receives one-on-one attention in a supportive, inclusive and sensory-friendly environment, with lessons adapted to their individual needs, abilities and swimming experience.
Whether a swimmer is just beginning to become comfortable in the water or already has swimming experience, instructors work at the child's own pace while helping build confidence, develop water-safety skills and work toward personal swimming goals.

What to Expect
One-on-One Instruction
Each swimmer receives individual attention from a trained RA Aquatics staff member.
Individualized Lessons
Lesson plans are customized around the swimmer's needs, abilities, experience and personal goals.
Supportive Environment
Lessons are designed to provide a safe, sensory-friendly and inclusive environment where swimmers can progress at their own pace.
Optional Grown-Up Participation
One grown-up may enter the water and actively participate with the registered swimmer. This is optional, not mandatory.
Instructor Approach
The RA Centre states that its adaptive swimming instructors are selected for their compassion, patience and commitment. The instructors have also completed introductory autism training through Ausome Ottawa.
Why Families May Consider This Activity
This program can be a good option for families looking for individualized swimming instruction rather than a traditional group lesson. The one-on-one format allows instruction to be adapted to the swimmer, while the RA Centre emphasizes inclusion, sensory-friendly support, water safety and progress at the swimmer's own pace.
